ABOUT ME
I am a multidisciplinary artist, environmentalist, teacher, and poet living and working on the traditional lands of the Kulin Nation in Naarm, Melbourne. As a Buddhist practitioner for over four decades, my creative process draws deeply on Buddhist teachings, with each work being a meditation on impermanence, interconnectedness, and transformation, inviting viewers to reflect on the preciousness of life and their place within the intricate weave of existence.
Embracing uncertainty and spontaneity, I open pathways for reflection and transformation in my work. Through the interplay of abstraction and natural forms, I seek to evoke wonder for the unseen, overlooked, or discarded. Colours, shapes, and textures become metaphors for time, memory, and attachments, while processes of layering and repetition echo cycles of growth, decay, and renewal.
The Whipstick Forest, north of Bendigo, is my most recent muse, collaborator, and teacher. This living mandala of relationships constantly surprises me with its stories of resilience, fragility, and the enduring impact of the human condition, told through elements as small as a quartz fragment, or as enduring as a towering box-ironbark tree. Lately, I have been gathering and repurposing discarded materials from the forest. It is a small act of care for the forest reflecting my belief in the transformative power of intentional gestures to foster renewal and healing—in both nature and humanity.
